I write this in August I wanted a quick beach get-away within a day's drive of Atlanta, where I'm currently based. I checked around the web for ideas and came across St. Augustine, Florida. It's less than a six our drive and the convention bureau has a site entitled Gay St. I have not even seen a gay flag or emblem in a town full of banners and flags There are a lot of evangelical radio stations as well.
Gay St. Augustine

The ancient city on the Matanzas River, which is part of the Intracoastal Waterway, has just about 14, residents, but it's been continuously inhabited since its founding by Spanish admiral Pedro Menendez de Aviles since , making it the oldest European-established city in the United States. It's also a bit unusual among Florida's most gay-popular vacation destinations, in that it's not a beach town although it's on the Matanzas River, which is part of the Intracoastal Waterway, and it's a short drive from St. Augustine Beach and Vilano Beach, on neighboring barrier islands. And it's in a relatively conservative area of northeastern Florida, far from the state's main tropical LGBT playgrounds a few hundred miles south. The city of Jacksonville , however, which does have a sizable gay scene , is a mere 40 miles up the coast.
It's a great idea to know where you stand so that you'll be prepared when this comes up in conversation. What my boyfriend and I used to do when we were long distance is write really, crazy long emails to each other almost as long as my blog posts. And he likes the idea of us raising our daughter with the values the Mormon church instills on their youth. All he says is that it wouldn't change the amount of time that he works. That's my two cents. I feel like I am under the microscope. Hopefully they have some say in it, but I'm speaking about other churchgoers' expectations here, and probably your wife's. In other words, eternal marriage really is worth it, I think.
